The last few days have seen not one but two artists of the golden era departing from our midst. Music director Ravi left us one day before Holi and Joy Mujherji one day after holi. We, who in this blog discuss the songs of the golden era on a daily basis, are so familiar with the artists involved in these songs that they feel like close acquaintances. In show business, it is not enough to just silently go about your job behind the scene. One needs to be in the limelight and one needs to keep lobbying with influential people who can help advance one’s career. People who are good in their jobs as well as good in Public relations forge ahead whereas others, who may be equally good if not so, may find themselves underappreciated.

I have heard the “better known” songs from “Door Ki Aawaaz” (1964) but that is not saying much, since this movie apparently had many more great songs than what met my eyes (and ears) till now. I see that Raja had given me a farmaish for two songs from this movie that I had never herad before.

Ham bhi agar bachche hote

Here is a song that is a perenniel favourite of kids and grown ups both. The song is very well known but few people can tell which movie this song was from. Even I keep forgetting, but it is good that my farmaish senders make my task easier by mentioning the name of the movie with their farmaishes.
