#the Decade of Seventies – 1971 – 1980 #
————————————————————
# Bhoole-Bisre Geet # 144 # Fifty years of ‘1971’ – 1
———————————————–—————————————-
The year 1971 completes ‘fifty’ years in this year ‘2021’. These days, we are discussing the movies released in the year ‘1971’. In this series today’s song is from the movie ‘Aag Aur Daagh-1971’.
Alphabetically ‘Aag Aur Daagh-1971’ is the first movie of the decade 1971-1980. It was passed by Censor Board on 20.01.1971. The first movie 0f ‘1971’, as per date of certification by censor board, is ‘Johar Mehmood In Hongkong’. It was passed by censor board on 04.01.1971.
Both these movies have been represented on the blog, and both are yet to be Yippeeee’ed 😊 and that gives us the opportunity for this post here.
‘Aag Aur Daagh-1971’ was directed by A. Salam for ‘Movie Temple, Bombay’. It was produced by Swarn Singh. It had Joy Mukherji, Komal, Jayant, Madan Puri, I.S. Johar, Helen, Bhagwan, Sudhir, Zeb Rehman, Rajan Haksar, Shetty, Kundan, Shefali, Paro, Majnu, Roopali, Uma Dutt, Shabana, Rajrani, Darshan, Amar, Subhash, Shaloo, Sameena, Master Rodney, Sumeet, Bipin Khosla and others.
This movie was written by Charandas Shokh. Editing of this movie was done by R.V. Shrikhande.
This movie had six songs (including one two-part song) written by Noor Dewasi (one song) and S.H. Bihari (five songs, including one two-part song).
Music for ‘Aag Aur Daagh-1971’ was composed by N. Datta.
Following is the list of songs in this movie as appearing in HFGK Vol-V (1971-1980).
S.No. | Song Title | Singer/s | Lyricist | Posted on |
---|---|---|---|---|
01 | Ye pyaar ka jhagdaa hai | Mohd Rafi | Noor Dewasi | 29.04.2012 |
02 | Choli bheegi, lat bheegi | Asha Bhonsle | S.H. Bihari | 16.04.2012 |
03 | Hamse badhkar kaun hoga aap ka deewaanaa | Mohd Rafi, Asha Bhonsle |
S.H. Bihari | |
04 | Aaj in haathon mein phir se zindagi…Tere is pyaar ka shukriyaa | Mohd Rafi | S.H. Bihari | 09.02.2012 |
05 | a) Iski ho gayi, uski ho gayi b) Naa baaba naa | Mohd Rafi | S.H. Bihari | |
06 | Aaj ki raat faisle ki raat hai | Asha Bhonsle | S.H. Bihari |
We can see from the above table that, so far, three songs from this movie have been posted on the blog.
Incidentally all the three songs from this movie that have been posted were posted in ‘2012’ only and after that no song from this movie have been posted on the blog.
So, it’s a long gap of more than nine years now to have the next song from this movie here.
Today we will listen to a nice duet sung by Mohd Rafi and Asha Bhonsle from this movie. On screen Joy Mukherji and Komal are seen performing on this song and they are lip syncing in the voices of Mohd Rafi and Asha Bhonsle, respectively.
I have not watched this movie and neither I remember to have listen any songs from this movie.
I like today’s song and I feel it is better heard than watched (however Joy Mukherji is as good as ever in such type of songs, but the actress in this song seems to be performing as ‘unnatural’ as possible 😊
Lyrics for today’s song are by S.H. Bihari and music is composed by N. Dutta.
(Today’s song also seems to have missed the many ‘Asha-Rafi’ duets compilation albums released by HMV in the past).
Let us now listen to the song … I am sure you like it and enjoy the composition …

Song-Hamse badhkar kaun hoga aap ka deewaana (Aag Aur Daagh)(1971) Singers-Rafi, Asha Bhonsle, Lyrics-S H Bihari, MD-N Datta
Lyrics
hamse badhkar kaun hoga
aapka deewaanaa
kitney din ki hai mohabbat
ye zaraa farmaanaa
hunh achchaa
waah waah
ho hamse badhkar kaun hoga
aapka deewaanaa aa
kitney din ki hai mohabbat
ye zaraa farmaanaa aa
chaahe jitney bhi kathin ho
zindagi ke raaste
zindagi saari hai dilbar
aap hi ke waaste ae
kya baat hai
chaahe jitney bhi kathin ho
zindagi ke raaste
zindagi saari hai dilbar
aap hi ke waaste
do kadam chal ke kahin
ruk jaaye naa deewaanaa
kitney din ki hai mohabbat
ye zaraa farmaanaa aa
haan hamse badhkar kaun hoga
aapka deewaanaa aa
hey kitney din ki hai mohabbat
ye zaraa farmaanaa
aaj to vaade bhi hain
kasmein bhi hain
aur pyaar bhi
pyaar ki baazi mein lekin
jeet bhi hai
haar bhi
hunh
chalegaa
aaj to vaade bhi hain
kasmein bhi hain
aur pyaar bhi
pyaar ki baazi mein lekin
jeet bhi hai
haar bhi
aag se dar jaaye jo
main wo nahin parwaanaa
hey kitney din ki hai mohabbat
ye zaraa farmaanaa aa
haan
haan
hamse badhkar kaun hoga
aapka deewaanaa aa
kitney din ki hai mohabbat
ye zaraa farmaanaa aa
kya pataa taqdeer ko
kuchh aur hi manzoor ho
chal pade hain
ab to manzil
chaahe jitni door ho
kya pataa taqdeer ko
kuchh aur hi manzoor hon
chal pade hain
ab to manzil
chaahe jitni door ho
reh nahin saktaa adhooraa
pyaar ka afsaanaa
kitney din ki hai mohabbat
ye zaraa farmaanaa aa
Pyaasa mera dil kitni shaam se

Rahul Dev Burman – Forgotten Songs – 5
———————————————————-
The fifth song of this series is a beauty from “Ehsaan”, a 1970 movie directed by Shiv Kumar for producer S J Rajdeo. The movie was written by R K Bannerjee, the songs were penned by Majrooh Sultanpuri and composed by R D Burman.
The movie starred Joy Mukharjee, Anjana, Bobby, Rajender Nath, Aruna Irani, Azad, Helen, Johnny Whisky, K. N. Singh, Madan Puri, Rajan Kapoor, Renu, Shabana, Sheri, Sulochana Chattarjee, Sunder, Tun Tun, etc.
The story of this movie, as per the song uploader is that Shalini lives a wealthy lifestyle with her widowed dad, Mohan, and a younger brother, Bobby. Her dad has been entrusted by the Government of India to safeguard a list of the location of India’s secret agents worldwide.
Many gangsters are recruited to try and secure this list for large sums of money, but none succeed. Then one day while Shalini is returning home, she is accosted by hoodlums and abducted.
A young man, Raja, comes to her rescue, and escorts her home. She introduces him to her father, and soon both fall in love with each other. Raja becomes a frequent visitor to the Lal residence and is welcomed by everyone including young Bobby. Mohan approves of Raja, and after consulting his friend, Dinanath, arranges for Shalini to get married to Raja.
What Shalini, Mohan and Bobby do not know is that Raja is a burglar, a safe-cracker, who has been recruited by an underworld Don to gain the confidence of the Lal family, and steal the list of secret agents’ from Mohan’s house – by hook or by crook. Does he succeed?
Three songs out of a total of six have already been posted on this blog.
“Pyasaa Mera Dil Kitni Shaam Se” by Lata Mangeshkar, music by R D Burman, lyrics by Majrooh Sultanpuri from “Ehsaan” (1970). The song is a seduction song and is picturised on Joy Mukharjee and Helen (Lip Syncs).

Song-Pyaasa mera dil kitni shaam se (Ehsaan)(1970) Singer-Lata, Lyrics-Majrooh Sultanpuri, MD-R D Burman
Lyrics
Pyaasaa aa Mera Dil
Kitni ee Shaam Se
Aaja Re
Hum Dono Piyen
Ek Hi Jaam Se
Pyaasaa Mera Dil
Kitni Shaam Se
Aaja Re
Hum Dono Piyen
Ek Hi Jaam Se
Pyaasaa Mera Dil
Kab Se Sulag Rahi Hoon Main
Dekho Kahin Jaana Na Sanam
Zara Mere Dil Ko Bhigo De
Teri Nazaron Ki Shabnam
Yoon He Ruke Rehna
Abhi Mujhko Thhaam Ke
Pyaasaa Mera Dil
Kitni Shaam Se
Ho Aaja Re Hum Donon Piyen
Ek Hi Jaam Se
Pyaasaa Mera Dil
Aaja Jab Tak Ho Ujaala
Leke Tujhe Jhoomoon Sajnaa
Choome Tere Honto Ko Ye Pyaala
Pyaalon Ko Main Choomoon Sajnaa
Mukhada Ho Gulaabi
Aaj Tere Naam Se
Pyasaa Mera Dil
Kitni Shaam Se
Aaja Re Hum Donon Piyen
Ek Hi Jaam Se
Pyaasaa Mera Dil
Armaan Hai Tere Sang Behkoon
Gir Ke Uthhoo Main Tere Saath
Armaan Hai Tere Sang Behkoon
Gir Ke Uthhoon Main Tere Saath
Tere Gale Mein Ho Meri Baahein
Mere Dil Pe Ho Tera Hath
Tujhse Chaahat Mein
Mujhe Kitne Kaam Thhe
Pyaasaa Mera Dil
Kitni Shaam Se
ho Aaja Re Hum Dono Piyen
Ek Hi Jaam Se
Pyasaa Mera Dil
Kitni Shaam Se
Aaja Re Hum Donon Piyen
Ek Hi Jaam Se
Pyaasaa Hm Hm Hmm
Here is a typical Rafi song sung in Shammi style, except that this song was picturised on Joy Mukherjee, and he was the closest to Shammi Kapoor in such roles.

on:In Bollywood movies, majority of songs are romantic songs. One small portion of such songs is the “sulking” song, where one party, typically the female sulks and the other person has to appease the sulking person.

I have stumbled upon yet another “new” song for me. The movie is called “aao pyaar karen”. It has Joy Mukherjee and Saira Bano as the lead actors and this is a movie from 1964, so one can safely assume that the story line has got to be similar to Shammi Kapoor movies of those days.

Even I keep forgetting, but it is good that my farmaish senders make my task easier by mentioning the name of the movie with their farmaishes.
