Today’s song is from a less known Mythological film Gaj Gauri-1958.
The film was made by Prabhat Chitra, Bombay. This is not the famous Prabhat Film Company of Poona (Sama Name Confusion even in Film Company names ?), which was auctioned in 1952 and then formally closed on 13-10-1953. Their last film was Aparadhi-1949.

“Gau Gauri”(1958) was directed by Raj Thakur for Prabhat Films, Bombay. This was the last movie by Prabhat Films after which this legendary movie making house downed its shutters. The prints of this movie are lost. The movie had Sulochana Latkar, Ratna Mala, Shahu Modak, Anant Kumar, Nana Plasikar, Tara Dixit, Vijay Limaye, Vijay Duggal, Neelam, Vishwas Kunthey, Kelkar, Gramopaadhye, Hemraj, Kishore Paranjape, Narendra Bhandari, Vijay Dixit and an elephant named ‘Ram Prasad’ in it.

Prabhat Films, Bombay (now Mumbai) wound-up its glorious innings with this film ‘Gaj Gauri’ in 1958. The surprising fact is that this ‘Pauraanik’ (Religious) film is presumed to be permanently lost. Raja Thakur directed it with the star-cast of Sulochana Latkar, Ratna Mala, Shahu Modak, Anant Kumar, Nana Plasikar, Tara Dixit, Vijay Limaye, Vijay Duggal, Neelam, Vishwas Kunthey, Kelkar, Gramopaadhye, Hemraj, Kishore Paranjape, Narendra Bhandari, Vijay Dixit and a Hathi named ‘Ram Prasad’.
