“Ganwaar”(1970) was produced and directed by Naresh Kumar for Dimple Films. This movie had Rajendra Kumar, Vyjayanthimala, Pran, Tarun Bose, Nishi Kohli, Jeevan, David Abraham, Sunder, Dulari, Viju Khote, Ram mohan, Sadhu Singh, Kamal Deep, Ravi Kale, Master Ratan, Randhir, Gulshan Bawra, Pratima, Shefali, Sabina, Seema, Tabassum, Nikita, Ramlal, Madhu Apte, Tilak Raj, Dhanraj, Bashir, Chandra, Rammurthi, Radheyshyam, Ujagar Singh, Gulab Singh, Maherunnisa, Dulari, Shamsher, Ravikala, Satya Devi, Rita etc in it.

Today (31 july 2013) is the 33rd death anniversary of Rafi (24 december 1924- 31 july 1980). This is the fifth such occasion for the blog in its five year’s existence. we devote this day to the memory of Rafi saab by discussing songs sung by him. And despite posting so many Rafi songs in the blo, we do not run short of his songs to discuss nor are we likely to run short of Rafi songs for the next several years.

Here is a song that was highly popular during its time when I was an impressionable kid in my pre teens. For a change, I knew which movie this song was from. This song was the title song of “Ganwaar” (1970). The voice of Rafi was unmistakable.

This is one song I remember listening to in my younger days. This was just the kind of song that kids would enjoy listening to. And like many such songs of those days, I had no details available about the song.
