We are at 12090 songs at the time of writing this. We have covered 3403 movies in the nearly eight years of this blog’s existence. 781 movies have all their songs covered. So when I was looking for a song featuring an old time music director/ singer on the occasion of his birthday today I was in for a surprise. Today (16 june 2016) is Hemant Kumar’s 96th birth anniversary.

MANMAANI (1947) was produced under the banner of Ajit Pictures and it was directed by Sarvottam Badami. The star cast included Jairaj, Ragini, E. Billimoria, Sabita Devi, Nazir Hussain, Amar etc. There were 10 songs in the film but the name of the lyricist is not known. It was because of the Google logo that I became aware that it was ‘World Earth Day’ on 22 april 2016. The next day (23 april 2016) the same google had William Shakespeare on its logo. Our Maheshji had also shared a screen shot of the google page that morning on our WhatsApp group. And on closer research I found that it was the death anniversary of William Shakespeare on that day.
