“Ishaara” (1943) is a movie produced more than seven decades ago. Little information was known about this movie till our own beloved inhouse Mr Arunkumar Deshmukh came to our help. In addition, we also had late Khwaja Sultan Ahmad (brother of music director Khursheed Anwar) as our visitor in the past who shared some unknown facts about the movies. After Partition, the film industry in Pakistan was at its lowest ebb. Main reason was that most of the film activities were taking place only in one place-Lahore. During the riots, most studios were either burnt or damaged and there was a shortage of Financers, Distributors and technical staff. Composers who migrated from here to there had got accustomed to working in an organised sector and in Pakistan almost everything was in a mess. It is to the credit of few dedicated people in Lahore that by 1948 the first film, entirely made in Pakistan, with the entire crew from within the country, rolled out successfully. Despite lack of facilities, talented composers created inspired music and most composers succeeded there.
