Missing gems from 1950s-Song 2
———————————–
Today’s song is a Gem from the film Jhaanjhar-1953.
This was the first film produced by New Sai productions, a company floated by Chitalkar, Omprakash and his only brother Bakshi Ramprakash Chhibber (who took up the name ‘Pachhi’ later on and produced many films like Kanhaiya, Jaali Note, Naughty Boy, Mere Mehboob, Cha ch cha, Teesri Kasam, Around the world etc etc.). many people are under the misunderstanding that even Lata mangeshkar was a partner in this venture, But C.Ramchandra, in his autobiography mentions only these three names as partners. Lata and C Ramchandra came out of this without any harm, though.

This is a very melodious song from film JHANJAR-1953.
1953 was an year when not only C Ramchandra was on Top, but also he was in the Seventh Heaven, due to his friendship with Lata. This was a period when Lata was fully involved in CR’s songs and persona. Leaving aside their personal matters, we will talk only of their music.

Despite a star cast comprising Motilal, Kamini Kaushal, Om Prakash, Sajjan, Usha Kiran, KN Singh, Sunder, Protima Devi and Sheela Naik, it bombed at the box-office. But its melodies have survived the ravages of time.

Arun ji,
Waah Waah Waah,
Kyaa hi laajawaab yaad taaza karaayee hai aap ne.
When I read your comment on the farmaishes, I was not able to immediately connect with the song, but when I went back to my collection and pulled out, the song just bowled me over once again. What a rhythm, what a pace, what a wonderful play of words – a song that really makes one want to do a tap dance. Wow and wow. 😀
