The film was made by Minerva Movietone, Bombay. It was directed by the owner of the banner, Sohrab Modi himself. The lyricist was Syed Amir Hyder Kamaal Amrohi or simply Kamaal Amrohi, who became famous as a producer, director and a poet in later years. One of the points of his fame was that he had married Meena kumari. His surname was actually Naqvi which he never used and opted for highlighting his home town Amroha. he was also a screenplay writer, a Dialogue and storywriter. His famous films were Mahal-1949 and Pakeezah-1972. Meena Kumari- his 3rd wife died soon after the film Pakeezah was made. They had already separated in 1964 after 12 years of married life.

Today’s song is from a relatively unknown or rather less known film ‘Vasanti’ (1938). The film was made by Minerva Movietone. The film was given to a novice for direction – KM Multani. He was with Sohrab Modi since his drama days and worked as a cinematographer for Modi’s first two films made by his Stage Films Company. After this first film, Multani also directed 4 more films, namely ‘Virginia’ (1940), ‘Vaseeyat’ (190,) ‘Ujala’ (1942) and ‘Umang’ (1944).

The cast of the film was Naseem Bano, Gajanan Jagirdar, Prem Adib, Sheela, Vimla, Navin Yagnik, Khan Mastana etc. The film was made by Minerva Movietone and directed by Sohrab Modi. Divorce was one of the 3 films Modi made based on social problems. First film was ‘Meetha Zafar’ on alcohol habit, ‘Divorce’ was on separation of a couple and ‘Bharosa’ was on a very taboo and sensitive issue like incest.
