“Nishaan” (1965) was a B grade movie starring Sheikh Mukhtaar,Sanjeev Kumar, Nazima, Prem Chopra, Helen, Mukri, Sulochana etc. In these B grade movies, where Sheikh Mukhtaar used to act as the tough guy who let hisfists do the talking and singing for him, the job of singing and dancing as public understood was entrusted to the side hero and the lead lady. In this movie Sanjeev Kumar and Nazima are entrusted with the job of singing romantic duets while Sheikh Mukhtaar concentrates on his strong arm tactics.

I was not aware of this movie called “Nishaan” (1965) . Now I have come to know that it was Sanjeev Kumar’s first movie as hero.

Iqbal Qureshi is one of the lesser known music directors whose contribution in making Bollywood music of 1950s and 1960s what it was ( the golden era) was second to none.

Music director Ravi deserved much more credit than he actually received as a music director. I have mentioned it in the past that a large number of iconic songs from Bollywood movies are his creations. Just name the subject, and he has an iconic song or two on the subject.

Here is yet another song from 1970s which I liked a lot those days, without having much details about it, except that it was sung by Kishore Kumar. It went “koyi maane ya na maane jo kal tak the anjaane, wo aaj hamen jan se bhi pyaare ho gaye”.
