“Aashiq”(1962) was a movie starring Raj Kapoor, Padmini, Nanda etc. This movie, like amny movies of those days, was a musical blockbusters. The songs of this movie sound so sweet even today, some half a century after they were created.

Not much is known about the movie “Mr Sampat” (1952) except that this movie was produced in South India and it was directed by S S Vasan. Motilal and Pardmini played lead roles in this movie.

I have seen the movie “Jis Desh me Ganga bahti hai”(1960) but I was not paying attention and as such I do not remember much about this movie. So I had no information about the background of this song from this movie. Now I am told that this movie was about the dacoits of Chambal valley laying their arms and joining the mainstream of society. This song in fact exhorts them to come back to the society.

Has anyone heard of a Bollywood movie called “Aurat” ? Well, I am aware of three movies by this name. One was a movie made by Mahboob Khan in 1940s. Later he remade it as “Mother India”. The second one was made in 1953. The third “Aurat ” was made in 1967.
