Two of the regulars of this blog have acquired HFGK some time back and both of them are putting these volumes to good use by find ing interesting information about Hindi movie songs.

“Parivaar” (1956) was directed by Asit Sen (the director) for Bimal Roy Productions. The movie had Asim Kumar, Usha Kiran, Jairaj, Anwar, Sajjan, Agha, Sabita Chatterjee, Kishore Kumar, Bikram Kapoor, Dhumal, Hiralal, Kumud, Kamal, Sulochana, Bipin Gupta, Durga Khote etc in it.

I have talked about “teasing” songs in Bollywood movies. In these songs, the boy typically would tease a girl outdoors. But I just realised that this teasing can take place even indoors, and that too in the presence of others. Yes, get together songs offer an ideal opportunity to the boy to tease the girl in full public glare.

I had posted a superb comedy song from “Parivaar” (1956) in the past which was sung by Kishore Kumar and picturised on himself. I now find that this movie, apart from this comedy song, had some superb semi classical songs sung by Lata and Hemant Kumar.

What a comic genius Kishore Kumar was ! I have posted several Kishore Kumar gems where he sang and enacted superb comic scenes. Songs from “Adhikaar”, “Miss Mary”, “Half Ticket”, “Padosan” etc readily come to mind.

It was one of those songs that I loved listening to without having a clue which movie this song was from. And of course I did not know anything about lyricists and music directors those day. I used to think that the singers themselves wrote the song and composed the music too.
