‘Prem Geet’ (1981) was produced by Lakhan Sinha and Pawan Kumar under the banner of Ramayana Chitra. The film was directed by Sudesh Issar, father of Puneet Issar. Raj Babbar and Anita Raj were in the lead roles with the supporting cast of Rajni Sharma, Sowcar Janaki, Madan Puri, Shashi Ranjan, Sajjan, Raj Kishore, Viju Khote, Vandana Rane, Yasmeen etc. It was the first released film of Anita Raj and also of Jagjit Singh as the music director.
Producers Lakhan Sinha and Pawan Kumar are elder brother and Secretary, respectively of Shatrughan Sinha. Ramayana Chitra is the home film production banner of Shatrughan Sinha. Director, Sudesh Issar started his filmy career as assistant director to Raj Khosla. He assisted him in ‘Ek Musaafir Ek Haseena’ (1962), ‘Wo Kaun Thhee’ (1964), ‘ Mera Saaya’ (1966), ‘Anita’ (1967), ‘Chiraag’ (1969) and ‘Mera Gaon Mera Desh’ (1971). ‘Sauda’ (1974) was Sudesh Issar first film as an independent director.

A deep, and a very relaxed sound – will not be heard live any more. Jagjit Singh, the icon of ghazal singing in the subcontinent for the past three decades, passed away the day before (10th Oct, 2011). And has left behind an inspired legacy of non-film and film music, mostly in form of ghazals, and in the form of musical scores for many films and albums.

Aao mil jaayen ham sugandh aur suman ki tarah

“Prem Geet” (1981) is a movie that was a launch vehicle for two new actors called Raj Babbar and Aneeta Raj. Raj was an actor with no filmy connection, but Aneeta Raj was the daughter of Jagdish Raj, the perenniel police officer of Hindi movies.
