Readers may have noticed that very few posts were appearing in the blog for the last several days. “Rishte Naate” (1965) was directed by K S Gopalkrishnan for Amarjyoti Films. The movie had Raj Kumar, Nutan, Nazir Hussain, Kanhaiyalal, Jamuna, Deven Verma, Shakila, Ameeta, David Abraham, Madhvi, Dhumal etc in it.

“Rishte Naate” (1965) is a movie produced by Amar Jyoti movies(Madras). It was directed by K S Gopalkrishnan. The star cast of the movie included names like Raj kumar, Nutan, Jamuna, Nazeer Hussain, Ameeta, Jeewan, David Abraham, Kanhaiyyalal, Dhumal, Deven Verma, Madhvi, Sahasranaamam, Baby Shakila. The star cast and the name of the movie tells me that it was a movie with a melodramatic theme and little wonder that I have not heard of this movie.

I had never heard this song. When I listened to it for the first time yesterday, I almost felt like I was listening to a haunting song from “Mera Saaya” or “Woh Kaun Thi”. This song is indeed a Lata-Madan Mohan masterclass, but it is not from the aforementioned movies. This song is from a movie called “Rishte Naate” and as it happened so often in movies with Madan Mohan as the music director, this movie failed at the box office.
