Mujhe yaad karne waale

Posted on: January 1, 2009

I had never heard this song. When I listened to it for the first time yesterday, I almost felt like I was listening to a haunting song from “Mera Saaya” or “Woh Kaun Thi”. This song is indeed a Lata-Madan Mohan masterclass, but it is not from the aforementioned movies. This song is from a movie called “Rishte Naate” and as it happened so often in movies with Madan Mohan as the music director, this movie failed at the box office.

This song is picturised on Nutan and Raj Kumar, and Jamuna. It is Jamuna whose voice haunts the other two in this song. The picturisation is quite impressive. I have no idea why the movie failed to impress the spectators. The music is certainly top class, and I loved it from the very first time I listened to it. This song too must be among Madan Mohan’s classic songs.

Song-Mujhe yaad karne waale (Rishte Naate) (1965) Singer-Lata, Lyrics-Hasrat Jaipuri, MD-Madan Mohan

Lyrics

Mujhe yaad karne waale
tere saath saath hoon main
jo kabhi na khatm hogi
wohi dil ki baat hoon main
Mujhe yaad karne waale
tere saath saath hoon main
jo kabhi na khatm hogi
wohi dil ki baat hoon main
Mujhe yaad karne waale

Main juda bhi hoke tujhse
main kabhi juda nahin hoon
Main juda bhi hoke tujhse
main kabhi juda nahin hoon
Hai janam janam ki ulfat
koyi bewafa nahin hoon
nahin hoon nahin hoon
Mujhe yaad karne waale

Mera gham kabhi na karna
mere dil me rahne waale
Mera gham kabhi na karna
mere dil me rahne waale
Mere pyaar hi ki khaatir
duniya nayi basaa le
basaa le basaa le
Mujhe yaad karne waale
tere saath saath hoon main
jo kabhi na khatm hogi
wohi dil ki baat hoon main
Mujhe yaad karne waale

Wow…lovely song – which I am listening to for the first time too.

Where was this hidden all these years ?

Thanks for uncovering this one, Atul.
It may not seem so but there are quite a few songs that I have heard for the first time only thanks to your blog here.

This is a beauty.

I believe that there are quite a few forgotten gems waiting to be discovered. I have myself discovered quite a few- some thanks to farmaishes by you and others, and some by chancing upon them.

This song is a real gem. It was one that I liked the very first time I listened to it. And as I can see, same was the case with you.

Just imagine the kind of musical legacy that madan Mohan has left behind him.

I heard this song recently in a show done by Lata some years back and was wondering where it came from. Thanks for including it here, now I can hear it whenever I want. It is one more beautiful from the 60’s, just makes me wonder how there was so much creativity at one point in time and where did it all go away? Or was it the taste of the people had changed and nobody wanted that kind of music? Regardless, the fact remains that the late 50’s and the 60’s produced amazing music.

The songs has three stanzas and a beautyful intro as well. Would appreciate Your posting the complete lyrics if possible. It is a beauty indeed. For me as a non Hindi speaker the complete lyrics would be of huge support. Thank You

Beyond Doubt,There Have Been Gems Which Remain Unnoticed(Of Course,For NO Fault Of The Composer/Lyricist/Singer) Just Due To Lack Of The Desired Response Of The Concerned Movies’ Viewers,”MujheYaadKarneWaale..” Being One Of The Prominent Examples..Such Type Of Less-Noticed Songs Really Give Me “MusicalDepression” Simply Because This Creation Deserved A Much Wider Circulation. Anyway,It’s Genuinely Heartening To Notice The Deep Musical Appreciation Among Some Of My Musical Friends In This Particular Column..The Kind Of Deep Feel Created/Generated By MadanMohan’s Music Sometimes Really Makes Us “Mental”….
