“Kaise Kahoon” (1964) was a movie starring Vishwajeet and Nanda. I had not heard about this movie in the past. It is only now that I have been discovering that this movie had some nice songs in it.

Vishwajeet tended to get backed by fantastic music (and singing) of Hemant Kumar in his movies. In some of his other movies, he had other music directors and then Rafi would do playback singing for Vishwajeet.

If Nargis was “Mother India”, then who was “Miss India” ? Few people may be aware of it, but both these movies were released in the same year viz 1957. “Mother India” went on to become a timeless classic, whereas “Miss India” was forgotten. And interestingly, Nargis herself was in the lead role of “Miss India” too.

“House Number 44” (1955) is a movie so old that not too many people know about this movie. This movie had Dev Anand in lead role and it had music by S D Burman.

I have been posting songs from “Vidya” (1948) over the past few days. It was interesting to note that this movie was full of lovely emorable songs that are nice to listen to even today.

“Vidya” (1948) had Dev Anand and Suraiyya in lead roles. Suraiyya was the leading singing star of that time and she sang her own songs.

I have posted a few songs from “Shabnam” (1964). I just realised that there was another movie of the same name as early as 1949. This movie had Dilip Kumar and Kamini Kaushal in lead roles.

S D Burman was not only an outstanding music director, he had a unique singing voice too which he utilised very fruitfully. He would sing sparingly, but the few songs that he sang all went on to become immortal.

We are so used to Mukesh being the voice of Raj Kapoor that we do not pause to think how it would be if Raj Kapoor sang for himself.
