I am aware of a movie called “Sohni Mahiwal” (1958). It turns out that there was another movie of the same title which was released in 1946.
“Sohni Mahiwal” (1946) was directed by Ishwarlal and Raveendra Jaikar for Jayant Desai Productions, Bombay. The movie had Ishwarlal, Begam Para, Mubarak, Dixit, Revashankar, Saeed Ahmad, Dharpure, Bibi Bai, Shobha, Nafisa Begam, Kesarbai etc in it.

“Sohni Mahiwal” (1958) was a Chaudhary Arts Production movie and it was directed by Raja Nawathe. Starcast of the movie included names like Bharat Bhushan, Nimmi, Kumar, Achla Sachdev, Mukri, Lotan, Chand Burque, Om Prakash etc.

“Sohni Mahiwal”(1958), as the name suggests is one of the four tragic love stories of Punjab. The other such stories being Heer Ranjha,Mirza Sahiban and Sassi Punnun. Several movies have been made on these tales, not only in Hindi, but also in Punjabi and other languages.
