Today, we come to the 25th post in this series wherein Mukesh’s association with various composers is discussed. Usually, the highlight of posts in such series is the listing of songs in a tabular form wherein all details can be studied/viewed at a glance. However, there are many composers for whom Mukesh sang only a handful of songs. In fact, for the last two posts, it was the case of a solitary song sung for Lachchiram – “Bigdi Mein Koi Poochhnewala Nahin Hota” and Nandu-Pyaare – “Kiski Dharti Kiska Gaam“.

Directed by R Kaushik, under the banner of ‘Lalmani Films, 1969 social film Sapna’ had the star-cast of Dilip Raj, Nivedita, Jagdip, Mohan Choti, Manmohan Krushna, KN Singh, Bhagwan Sinha, Preetam, Ganesh, Rinku, Bela Bose, Meenakshi, Sarita Devi, Sadhana Khote, Kalpalata, Ameena etc. Jaidev set the tunes to the lyrics by VN Mangal.

Genius of Jaidev – 39

It took me A YEAR to present this post today, after the last post ‘Genius of Jaidev – 38’, which appeared on this Blog on December 19th, 2015. After posting two songs by Mangeshkars from 1969 film ‘Sapna’, I have now a solo by Manna Dey. Not having seen the film my guess is that this song must have been picturised on the hero of the film, trying to move away from whatever situation he found himself, in a very dejected state.
