“Ziddi” (1948) is a movie with which Kishore Kumar began his career as a playback singer. Another youngster,viz Prem Dhawan, too began his career as a lyricist with this movie.

There have been three movies called “Ziddi” over the years that I am aware of. These movies were released in 1948, 1964 and 1997. “Ziddi” (1948) and “Ziddi” (1964) have some very fine songs and I have posted songs from both these movies in this blog. The 1997 movie of this name is not noted for any great songs, rather this movie is known for a dialogue of Sunni Deol, that went- “ye dhaayi kilo ka haath jab kisi pe uthta hai to wo uthtaa nahin, uth jaata hai” (when this 2 1/2 kilo fist comes down upon someone, he cannot get up, he can only go up). 😉 It is not music for the ears of the baddies, that is for sure.

I have posted a few songs from “Ziddi” (1964) already. This was a Shammi Kapoor type movie ( Joy Mukherji and Asha Parekh starred in it). One major difference in this movie from other Shammi Kapoor type movie was that the music director was S D Burman in this movie.

I was aware of a 1948 movie called “Ziddi”, which was the debut movie of Kishore Kumar as a playback singer. But there was another movie of this name in 1964. This movie “Ziddi” (1964) was a Shammi Kapoor like movie with Joy Mukherji in lead role.
