Set on the background of Rajasthan, this movie has the ageing superstar Rajesh Khanna ( his crown already having slipped half a decade back), Vinod Khanna ( so near yet so far to superstardom), and Hema Malini ( dreamgirl of 1970s, now slowly on the decline having reached the zenith of her career in the last decade).

This song was composed by Laxmikant Pyarelal, written by Anand Bakshi and sung by Kishore Kumar. All of them had seen it all in their career, and been to the top for many many years.

Most people may regard this song as just a requirement of the movie, but I cannot help feel that this song in a way summed up the careers of all those who were involved in creating this song. Trust me to find philosophy in a song where most people may just find nostalgia. But then that is how I am.

This song has become the gold standard among nostalgic songs, of course.
