Jaane chaman jaane bahaar

I had listened to this song quite often in Radio Ceylon “aaphi ke geet” programme , which was a farmaishi programme catering to listeners from Jhumri Tilaiyya and elsewhere. But I do not think this song became particularly popular in Binaca geetmala or with those plying records on loudspeakers during those days of 1974. In fact, I was not even aware which movie this song was from.
Now that I got the farmaish of his song for inclusion in this blog, I researched and found out that I had actually heard this song in 1974 when this song first started appearing in radio Ceylon. But the movie was no great shakes, and the popularity of songs were affected as a result, at least as far as I was concerned. I find now that this movie had another song called “aayegi zaroor chithi mere naam ki”. This sad song was also popular in “aaphi ke geet” programme, but not that much in Binaca geetmala.
Now that I have got to listen to this song again, I find that it was supposed to be a time pass song, and as far as time pass songs go, this song is not all that bad. It is a typical laxmikant Pyarelal composition written by Anand Bakshi and sung by Kishore Kumar. This song is picturised on Jeetendra and Hema Malini- a pairing that failed to click with the audience.
The movie may have failed, and even the song is no longer as well known, but the song is reasonably hummable even today, I think.

Song-Jaane chaman jaane bahaar (Dulhan) (1974) Singer- Kishore Kumar, Lyrics-Anand Bakshi, MD-Laxmikant Pyarelal
hmmmm lalalalala hahaha
Jaane chaman jaane bahaar
jaane chaman jaane bahaar
tu ek hai tere naam hazaar
kisse tere hain beshumaar
jaane chaman jaane bahaar
tu ek hai tere naam hazaar
kabhi honthon pe hansi aa jaaye
aa jaaye
kabhi ankhon pe haya chaa jaaye
kabhi zulf teri lahraaye
kabhi roop tera sharmaaye
kabhi honthon pe hansi aa jaaye
aa jaaye
kabhi ankhon pe haya chaa jaaye
kabhi zulf teri lahraaye
kabhi roop tera sharmaaye
teri har adaa pe aata hai pyaar
jaane chaman jaane bahaar
tu ek hai tere naam hazaar
aayi gayeen kayi barsaaten
he he
rahi dil me hi dil ki baaten
badi lambi judaayi ki raaten
badi chhoti si ye mulaakaatein
aayi gayeen kayi barsaaten
he he
rahi dil me hi dil ki baaten
badi lambi judaayi ki raaten
badi chhoti si ye mulaakaatein
kab tak karoonga main intezaar
jaane chaman jaane bahaar
tu ek hai tere naam hazaar

This is a typical Kishore song of those days.
At that time I did not know which movie it was from.
Years later I saw the movie – and this song.
You are right, the movie is no great shakes.
But it is always nice to hear this song.
