Kishore Kumar, regarded as a singer of happy songs, has sung some fantastic sad/ serious songs in his career too. “Amar Prem” in fact had not one, but quite a few serious songs. Anand Bakshi was the lyricist and R D Burman was the music director of this movie.
Picturised on Rajesh Khanna and Sharmila Tagore, “kuchh to log kahenge” has gone on to become a Kishore Kumar classic. Incidentally, this song had failed to make it to the finals of Binaca geetmala in 1972, though two other songs from this movie were in top 19 in 1972 finals.

Every song in this movie was great, and this song is so full of meaning, esp the part where he says “..seeta bhi yahan badnaam hui …”. “Chingari koi bhadke …” and “Yeh kya hua …” were also meaningful, and “Raina beeti jaaye …” was just so beautiful, they all bring tears to my eyes when I listen to them. Thanks for sharing this gem of a song.

great song expressing the philosophy of life and the hypocracy in world.
if you ever got hurt by people laughing at you just remind the lines of this song:
tu kaun hai tera naam hai kya seeta bhi yahan badnam hui.

Indeed, this song expresses complex feelings in simple words, which is a remarkable feat.

This song has a soothing effect on your mind and it just tells you that do not get affected by the rubbish talks of the people. The first stanza is so good,oh what can I say about it. Another magical creation of the magical trio- pancham da, kishore da and anand ji. They will always live in our hearts through these creations.
