Roshan tumhin se duniya

Posted on: February 6, 2009

“Parasmani” was the first movie of Laxmikant Pyarelal as independent music directors. And what an amazing debut they had !

The most popular song from this movie those days turned out to be “hansta hua nooraani chehra”, but if sheer class and quality is concerned, then just listen to this Rafi song-“Rosha tumhi se duniya”.

To appreciate what an awesome song this is, just try to sing the initial aalaap of the song “aaa aaa”. It is sung with effortless ease by Rafi, but I do not think too many people can come anywhere close to this aalaap.

I did not even talk about the body of the song. I am sure people can sing this song, but coming anywhere close to Rafi’s voice is just out of question.

What a song ! All hail Rafi , and all hail Laxmikant Pyarelal, who could come up with such an amazing song on their debut movie itself.

Song-Roshan tumhi se duniya (Parasmani) (1963) Singer-Rafi, Lyrics-Indeewar, MD-Laxmikant Pyarelal

Lyrics

hmmm
haa
ho
Roshan tumhi se duniya
raunaq tumhi jahan ki
phoolon me palne waali
rani ho gulsitan ki
salaamat raho
salaamat raho
Roshan tumhi se duniya
raunaq tumhi jahan ki
phoolon me palne waali
rani ho gulsitan ki
salaamat raho
salaamat raho
haay
salaamat raho

ho
nazuk ho naaz se bhi
tum pyaar se bhi pyaari
nazuk ho naaz se bhi
tum pyaar se bhi pyaari
tum husn se haseen ho
kya baat hai tumhaari
kya baat hai tumhaari
aankhon me do jahaan hain
maalik ho do jahaan ki
salaamat raho
salamat raho
haay
salamat raho
aaa aaa
aaa aaa
ooo
dil chaahe toot jaaye
mere dil se yoon hi khelo
dil chaahe toot jaaye
mere dil se yoon hi khelo
jeeti raho yoonhi tum
meri bhi umr lelo
meri bhi umr lelo
kis din dua na maangi
hamne tumhaari jaake
salaamat raho
salamat raho
Roshan tumhi se duniya
raunaq tumhi jahan ki
phoolon me palne waali
rani ho gulsitan ki
salaamat raho
salaamat raho
salamat raho
salaamat raho

You are so right about this song and alaap.

When I first saw this song (in the DD’s Chitrahaar days), I was surprised to see the classical setting. Somehow, I had imagined a filmy piano party.

You can see the alaap is being sung with a guitar and our hero is holding a sitar!

This is one of my favourite Rafi saab songs.

Indeed, I has become my favourite song too, once I realised how difficult this song was to sing.

Atul, I checked the LP of Parasmani and there it mentions this song as Salamat Raho and the lyricist is Indeevar. Farooq Kaiser was the lyricist of other two songs in this movie, namely Ooi Maa Ooi Maa and Chori Chori.
