One of the category of Bollywood songs that I post in this blog are “rain” songs. Quite a few of these rain songs are picturised on Rajesh Khanna and Mumtaz. So I may as well open a further sub category of rain songs viz Rajesh Khanna-Mumtaz rain songs. And all these songs are simply out of thius world.
I have posted quite a few songs from ‘Do Raaste” (4 to be exact) and I am surprised to realise that I had not posted this song so far ! That gives some idea as to how many fantastic songs this one movie had.
This “rain” song must be among the best rain songs ever. The chemistry of the leading duo stands out, and the two actually seem to enjoy getting wet in the rain.
And as noticed by my 10 year old kid, they do not change their clothes even one in the song, and continue to get wet throughout the song. and that definitely makes it easy for people to love this song. I do not think lead actors changing clothes and locations every five seconds could have created the same magic.
In fact, almost everyone asociated in the creating of this song were legends in their fields. Just imagine the names who helped create this song. Lata, Rafi, Anand Bakshi, Laxmikant Pyarelal, Rajesh Khanna, Mumtaz. And all of them gave their best in this song.
And the result is for all to see. it is an iconic song- the fifth iconic song from just one movie called “Do Raaste”. wow !

What a song and what a musical tour de force this film was! The first time Kaka and Mumu were paired together and it was a revelation–one of the most successful jodis in Hindi cinema. All the films that these two were paired against each other in went on to become jubilee hits except Prem Kahani (and their guest appearances in Raja Rani and Aaina).
