The movie “Faraar” is one of the lesser known movies of Amiatbh Bachchan. In fact, any movie just off the beaten track tended to end up becoming a lesser known movie, since the Bollywood spectators were just not mature enough to patronise movies that were even slightly different.
“Faraar” had quite a different and moving plot as can be guessed from this song. And this song itself is so moving and touching. This song has many versions. Here I have posted the Kishore Kumar version as well as the duet version (Kishore Kumar-Lata version). There is a solo Lata version too, but posting two songs in a post is hard enough work, and I will leave the work of posting Lata version to some future date.
This song ( both versions) is just too good. Kishore Kumar in fact steals the show with the way he expresses the pathos of the situation. Rajinder Krishan, then approaching the end of a long and illustrious career comes up with stunning lyrics. Kalyanji Anandji’s music touches just the right heart strings.
What a song this is.

Solo (Kishore Kumar)
hmm hmm
main dil tum meri dhadkan
honaa

hoon to
main pyaasaa tum saawan

main dil tum meri dhadkan

main pyaasaa tum saawan…
aankhon ko jab band karoon main
aankhon ko jab band karoon main sapne tumhaare aayen
pyaar binaa ye jeewan pheekaa sapne ye samjhaaye
man se man ki dori kaa tumhin to ho bandhan
ho naa
hoon to
ho ho naa
hoon to
main pyaasaa tum saawan…
main jab chhedoon dil ke taraane
main jab chhedoon dil ke taraane chupke se sun lenaa
ye naghmen hain pyaar ki kaliyaan dheere se chun lenaa
teraa-meraa rishtaa jaise khushboo aur chandan
hain naa
hoon to
hai hai naa

main pyaasaa tum saawan…
main dil tum meri dhadkan
ho na

I remember seeing this movie as a young boy. This was just before the time when Amitabh became a superstar.
Nice song from that time. Some movies have ONE song in the movie that they are remembered by. This movie had this one song.
