Dil ki baaten dil hi jaane

Posted on: April 20, 2009

Some songs become so popular that we have movie titles of future movies formed out of these songs. For instance, movies like “Aashiq hoon bahaaron ka”. “dilwaale dulhaniya le jayenge” are two movies whose titles were clearly inspired from popular songs of “Aashiq” and “Chor machaaye shor” respectively.

One of the most popular songs of late 1960s was “roop tera mastaana pyaar mera deewaana” from “Aradhana”. This song inspired the title of a 1972 movie called, very imaginatively “Roop Tera Mastaana”.

This movie had Jeetendra and Mumtaz in lead roles. Here is a poplar song from the movie that goes “dil ki baaten dil hi jaane”. The picturisation is a bit of the dampener though. We, who are used to dfind Mumtaz performing brilliantly in the company of Rajesh Khanna find the same onscreen chemistry conspicuous by its absence between Jeetendra and Mumtaz. Rajesh Khanna certainly had an aura about himself in his songs that is missing in this picturisation.

Song-Dil ki baaten dil hi jaane (Roop Tera mastaana)(1972) Singers-Kishore Kumar, Lata, Lyrics-Asad Bhopali, MD-Laxmikant Pyarelal

Lyrics

Dil ki baaten dil hi jaane
aankhen chhede sau afsaane
naazuk naazuk pyaare pyaare
waade hain iraade hain
aa aa aa milke daaman daaman se baandh len
aa aa milke daaman daaman se baandh len
dil ki baaten dil hi jaane
aankhen chhede sau afsaane
naazuk naazuk pyaare pyaare
waade hain iraade hain
aa aa aa milke daaman daaman se baandh len
aa aa milke daaman daaman se baandh len
dil ki baaten dil hi jaane

tu hans padi ya phuljhadi
chooti kahin dhadkan badi
ik shola sa lahra gaya
haan haan ye noor hoga
teri aankhon me pyaar ka
ya naghma goonja hoga bahaar ka
Dil ki baaten dil hi jaane
aankhen chhede sau afsaane
naazuk naazuk pyaare pyaare
waade hain iraade hain
aa aa aa milke daaman daaman se baandh len
aa milke daaman daaman se baandh len
Dil ki baaten dil hi jaane

tu jo kahe main wo kahoon
saaya banoon sang sang rahoon
tu aur main ab ek hain
haan haan aa main geet banke
tere hothon ko choom loon
sapna banke in ankhon me jhoom loon
Dil ki baaten dil hi jaane
aankhen chheden sau afsaane
naazuk naazuk pyaare pyaare
waade hain iraade hain
aa aa aa milke daaman daaman se baandh len
aa milke daaman daaman se baandh len

Beautiful song. Kishore Da & Lataji are really matchless.
