1980s was when I had begun to lose track of Bollywood songs and movies. The fact that it also coincided with the time when the quality of songs was going downhill was also one of the factors.
“Sadma” (1983) was one movie that I was not much aware of. In fact, till today, I confused this movie with “Haadsaa”. While looking for some “newer” songs, I found that this song from “Sadmaa” (1983) is rated quite by many people. This song -“Ae zindagi gale lagaa le” is sung by Suresh Wadkar. It is written by Gulzar. I use Gulzar’s name to conclude unconditionally that the song must be great.
This movie was a remake of a hit movie from South. That explains the presence of Kamal Hassan as the hero and Ilayaraja as the music director of this movie.
This song is picturised wonderfully well on Kamal Hassan and Sridevi.
It is indeed a wonderful song to listen to (and watch).

I rate it as the best song , ever sung by Suresh Wadker . The lyrics of Gulzar is simply outstanding . I saw Sadma in a cinema hall when it was releleased , both Kamal Has an and Sridevi did a splendid job . Specially the last scene of Sadma is soul piercing . What a splendid job was done by Hasan . His acting reaches zenith . Music of Ilaya Raja , is a real master piece .

Thanks for posting this song. This song is really heart touching and makes me to forget all the tensions and worries. I remember this movie, one of the best movies of Kamal Hasan. At the end of the movie I was really crying. Keep this good collection up as most of us are forgetting such soul touching songs among rock songs.
