Unse rippi tippi ho gayi

“Agra Road” (1957) is a very obscure movie. Neither this movie nor its songs are known to too many people now a days.
I have already posted a song from this movie though. Here is another song from this movie. This song is a car song and a duet though it is the male voice that does bulk of singing, the female voice mostly hums. Rafi is the male voice and the female voice is Geeta Dutt.
This song is picturised on Shakeela and Vijay Anand. Prem Dhawan is the lyricist and Roshan composed the music.
PS-In the penultimate stanza, there are a few lines in Gujrati. I am not famiiar with the language and the lyrics that I have written there may be incorrect. I request readers with Knowledge of Gujrati to advise me about the correct lines, and then I will include those corrected lines there.

Thanks for your memories of those days.
I recall that the tickets for rear stall used to be Rs 2 and 95 paise in 1970s where I was growing up.

Isn’t the most unusual part the yodelling in a Rafi song? Was it Rafi or was it someone else?

Vow ! I heard this song after 50 years ! I had even forgotten that I used to love this song !! Thanks.

You are right. In the penultimate stanza, there are a few lines in Gujarati. Even the last stanza includes some Punjabi lines like “Baliye ni puncture ho gayaa, Main ki karaan.”

Films of that golden music era, had few/all songs that became popular due to their lyrics and melody which were easy to hum, even though the films themselves did not do well. Those songs are still popular among the music lovers.
These second grade films, which were unsuccessful in their first run, were released again after a gap of few months, as noon shows in theaters (Delhi) and shown at reduced rates. If I remember, a seat in the Rear Circle was around Rs. 2/=. School and college students skipping their classes, were seen at these shows, forming a majority among the audience. When these songs came on the screen, many use to sing in tandem to electrify the atmosphere..
