“Mashaal” (1950) was a musical blockbuster which had some very nice songs. For example, ‘Upar gagan vishaal”, which announced the arrival of Manna Dey as a playback singer, was from this movie.
Here is a song from “Mashaal” (1950) which is sung by Geeta Dutt, another protege of S D Burman. This song is written by Pradeep and it is a nice philosophical song, which is sung beautifully by Geeta Dutt.
I cannot make out who is the actress on which this song is picturised, though she looks familiar. Any idea who she is ?
PS-She is Sumitra Devi, who was a leading actress of Bangla movies. I thank my readers S N Roy and Dr Rashmikant Vyas for this information.

Mr. Roy it is Sumitra devi, the famous bengali actress. She had a small role many years later on in Raj Kapoor’s ” Jagte Raho” where she acts as the wife of alcoholic Motilal and dances on a song
Maine jo li agadai .
She was a versatile actress. Any Bengali movies you know of she acted in ?

Atul 2 other ladies are seen in the song. I am sure one of them is Roma Devi, the first wife of famous singer actor Kishore Kumar and mother of Amit Kumar. Do you know who is that ?
