Suniye jaanam kyaa pyaar mein sharmaana

Posted on: October 30, 2009

I have posted a couple of lovely songs from “Akashdeep” (1965) already. This movie clearly has other nice songs too, even if they are not as well known as the two songs that I have already posted.

This song “suniye jaanam kyaa pyaar mein sharmaana” is a “new” song for me, and I find that it is quite a nice and lovely romantic song. It is sung by Mahendra Kapoor and Lata and it is picturised on Dharmendra and Nanda. Majrooh Sultanpuri is the lyricist and Chitragupta is the music director.

Song-Suniye jaanam kyaa pyaar mein sharmaana (Akaashdeep) (1965) Singers-Mahendra Kapoor, Lata, Lyrics-Majrooh Sultanpuri, MD-Chitragupta

Lyrics

aahaa ho
ho ho ho ho
Suniye jaanam kyaa pyaar mein sharmaana
kuchh ham bhi sunaayen
kuchh tum bhi kaho
halke halke chilman ke kareeb aana
kuchh ham bhi sunaayen
kuchh tum bhi kaho
Suniye jaanam kyaa pyaar mein sharmaana
kuchh ham bhi sunaayen
kuchh tum bhi kaho

armaan thaa ham kahte
jo bhi tamanna hoti
armaan thaa ham kahte
jo bhi tamanna hoti
deewaar ban jaati hai
zaalim teri khaamoshi
jaahir me khaamoshi
parde me to afsaana
halke halke chilman ke kareeb aana
kuchh ham bhi sunaayen
kuchh tum bhi kaho

ik dil mila hai dekho
ik dil se pahle pahle
ik dil mila hai dekho
ik dil se pahle pahle
wo dil bahak na jaaye
manzil se pahle pahle
chaahat ki manzil hai
dil aur nazar mil jaana
suniye jaanam kyaa pyaar mein sharmaana
kuchh ham bhi sunaayen
kuchh tum bhi kaho
halke halke chilman ke kareeb aana
kuchh ham bhi sunaayen
kuchh tum bhi kaho

What does “halke halke” (or “halki halki”) mean?

“Halka” normally means lightweight. Here “halke halke” is used to mean “walking on light feet, viz noiselessly”

“halke halke chilman ke kareeb aana” means come to the chilman (venetial blind) with light feet.

Females in such movies would often watch the goings on from behind the curtains viz “chilman”

As can be seen, such words are culture specific and lose much in translation.

Why in the place of video of this song “Error 503 service unavailable” displayed ??
In some sites like youtube and earthmusic, they have mentioned that this song is from movie Aaj ke angaarey HELP,
Earth music also shows this song is from movie Aaj ke angaarey

There is one more paragraph of this songs which I have heard in radio but I could neither found the video or lyric of that paragraph. The last line of the paragraph is somewhat like this -tum bolo na bolo hum jaan gaye sab jana–can anyone send me the link or atleast exact wording of that paragraph
