Duniya banaane waale kyaa tere man mein samaayi

on:“Teesri Kasam” (1966) was a labour of love created by Shailendra. It had some lovely songs in it which were penned by Shailendra himself, excepting two. This song is one of the two songs that have been written by Hasrat Jaipuri.
I have posted a few memorable classics from this movie already. Here is another timeless classic from this movie. It is sung by Mukesh and picturised on Raj Kapoor and Waheeda Rehman. Shankar Jaikishan composed the music.
It is a lovely song which is picturised very nicely too. In the picturisation, Raj Kapoor tells Waheeda Rehman about a village girl called Mahua in between the stanzas of this song.

Song-Duniya banaane waale kyaa tere man mein samaayi (Teesri Kasam) (1966) Singer-Mukesh, Lyrics-Hasrat Jaipuri, MD-Shankar Jaikishan
Lyrics
duniyaa banaane waale, kyaa tere man mein samaayi
kaaheko duniyaa banaayi, toone kaaheko duniyaa banaayi
duniyaa banaane waale, kyaa tere man mein samaayi
kaaheko duniyaa banaayi, toone kaaheko duniyaa banaayi
kaahe banaaye toone maati ke putle,
dharti ye pyaari pyaari mukhde ye ujle
kaahe banaayaa toone duniyaa kaa khelaa
kaahe banaayaa toone duniyaa kaa khelaa
jismein lagaayaa jawaani kaa melaa
gup-chup tamaashaa dekhe, waah re teri khudaayi
kaaheko duniyaa banaayi, toone kaaheko duniyaa banaayi
duniyaa banaane waale, kyaa tere man mein samaayi
kaaheko duniyaa banaayi, toone kaaheko duniyaa banaayi
tu bhi to tadpaa hogaa man ko banaakar,
toofaan ye pyaar kaa man mein chhupaakar
koyi chhavi to hogi aankhon mein teri
koyi chhavi to hogi aankhon mein teri
aansoo bhi chhalke honge palkon se teri
bol kyaa soojhi tujhko, kaaheko preet jagaayi
kaaheko duniyaa banaayi, toone kaaheko duniyaa banaayi
duniyaa banaane waale, kyaa tere man mein samaayi
kaaheko duniyaa banaayi, toone kaaheko duniyaa banaayi
preet banaake toone jeenaa sikhaayaa
hansnaa sikhaayaa,
ronaa sikhaayaa
jeewan ke path par meet milaaye
jeewan ke path par meet milaaye
meet milaake toone sapne jagaaye
sapne jagaake toone, kaahe ko de di judaayi
kaaheko duniyaa banaayi, toone kaaheko duniyaa banaayi
duniyaa banaane waale, kyaa tere man mein samaayi
kaaheko duniyaa banaayi, toone kaaheko duniyaa banaayi

Creator of the world
why did you create this world
why did you create these mortal creatures
why did you create life and all the hassles associated with it
and what was the idea of enjoying all this chaos from behind the scene
you yourself may have been troubled while making the human mind
and created the feeling of love therein
were you aware of all the complications that the feeling of love would lead to
With feelings of love, came the feelings of living
feelings of joy and sorrow
In the path of life, you made people meet
and allowed them to dream
only to shatter those dreams by causing their separation
Creator of the world, why did you create this world

Atul ji,
This song was written by Hasrat Jaipuri. Please correct the tag as well as in write-up.
There is an interesting trivia about this song. Majrooh Sultanpuri who had written one song for Raj Kapoor’s film ‘Aag’ (1948), was approached by Raj Kapoor to write one more song for the film. Majrooh Sultanpuri wrote the song of which the mukhda of the song was the same as that of this song. Raj Kapoor paid him Rs.1000/- for the song though the going rate for a song at that time was Rs.250/-.
It was much later Majrooh Sultanpuri came to know that the song was not meant for any film. Raj Kapoor wanted to help Majrooh Sultanpuri against whom an arrest warrant was issued by the Bombay Police for inciting the workers through his poetry. In case, he goes to jail, at least the money would be helpful to his family who were still in Sultanpur.
Later the mukhda of the song was used for this song of ‘Teesri Kasam’ (1966).

dear Atul,
It is such a pleasure going through your blog. I was looking for the lyrics of the song Duniya banaane waale and that’s how I stubmled on your blog…
Let me introduce my self.
My name is Naoual and I’m 30 years old, and as my name probably already has revealed I’m not Indian, I’m arabic.
I was born and raised in Holland.
I don’t know what it is, but i have this deep love for Indian music, movies, clothes, culture and India it self..
I have only been once to India, and it felt like I came home..
I’m sure there must be an old Indian soul living inside me 🙂
I know it might me a bit rude to ask, but allthough I love the song (wich i really do) I do not understand what it is about… I have asked my friends who are from Suriname, but because Hindi isn’t their first language they couldn’t translate it for me, so could you perhapse translate the song for me?
Hope to hear from you,
Best regards,
Naoual

Nice to know you, Mr Naoual. It is so heartwarming to see so many people of non Indian origin and unfamiliar with the language enjoying these songs. Indeed one must know the meanings of these songs to appreciate the songs better.
In the earlier days of this blog, I used to give translation of songs but I gave them up to be able to discuss more songs. I will do a quick translation of this song in a little while.
PS-Now I have provided a quick translation. It is not a verbatim translation, but it gives a decent idea of what is being said in this song.
