I have posted several songs from “Mughal e Azam” (1960) and many more need to be posted. Just about every song of this movie was a classic that is a feast for the ears and eyes even to this date.
Here is another song from this movie. The song is “jab raat hai aisi matwaali”. The setting and the picturisation is lavish. Prince Salim (Dilip Kumar) is shown in thecompany of Anarkali (Madhubala) and female singers are seen singing and dancing this song. I find the lyrics of this song incredibly romantic , and Shakeel Badayuni was at his creative best while penning this song. What imagination he conjured.His lyrics flow like the poetic equivalent of champagne.
Naushad, like Shakeel Badayuni, was at his creative best in this movie too.
Lata sings this song.The song is picturised on Nigar Sultana. I thank Raja for providing me this information.

A small correction.
In the song it is “Haalat hai ajab deewanon ki”,
Please correct it, you’ve used “Daulat hai ajab deewanon ki”, it does not fit contextually.

What a fantastic song this is. And the chemistry between Dilip and Madhubala in this song is amazing.
Btw, the picturisation is on Nigar Sultana. Quite well-known in her time.
And this song is sung by Lata only, not Lata and Shamshad.
The Lata-Shamshad combo in this movie is that another absolutely fantastic song (aren’t they all in this movie ?) – teri mehfil mein kismat aazmaakar hum bhi dekhenge.
