“Dosti” (1964) was a simple movie with a simple uncomplicated message, and the message went home. This small budget movie with no stars (which was the first movie of Rajshree productions) went on to become a hit movie.
The biggest reason for the success of this movie was its music. Laxmikant Pyarelal, assistant music directors turned music directors made this movie as much of a musical bonanza as their initial offering (“Parasmani”).
Out of the six songs of this movie, one was sung by Lata and picturised on Uma Raju. All other songs were sung by Rafi and picturised on Sudhir Kumar, who played a blind teenager (Mohan) in this movie.
I have posted five songs from this movie. To round things up, here is the sixth song from this movie. Like every other song, this song too has gone on to become a timeless classic. six timeless classics out of six ! No wonder this movie earned Laxmikant Pyarelal their first (out of several) Filmfare award for best music direction.
This song “mera to jo bhiqadam hai wo teri raahon mei hai” is a moving song and it is written by Majrooh Sultanpuri.

meraa to jo bhi qadam hai
wo teri raah mein hai
meraa to jo bhi qadam hai
wo teri raah mein hai
ke tu kahin bhi
ke tu kahin bhi rahe
tu meri nigaah mein hai
meraa to jo bhi qadam hai
wo teri raah mein hai
ke tu kahin bhi rahe
tu meri nigaah mein hai
kharaa hai dard kaa rishtaa
to phir judaayi kyaa
kharaa hai dard kaa rishtaa
to phir judaayi kyaa
judaa to hote hain wo
khot jinki chaah mein hai
meraa to jo bhi qadam hai
wo teri raah mein hai
ke tu kahin bhi rahe
tu meri nigaah mein hai
chhupaa huaa saa mujhi mein
hai tu kahin ai dost
chhupaa huaa saa mujhi mein
hai tu kahin ai dost
meri hansi mein nahin hai
to meri aah mein hai
meraa to jo bhi qadam hai
wo teri raah mein hai
ke tu kahin bhi
ke tu kahin bhi rahe
tu meri nigaah mein hai
meraa to jo bhi qadam hai
wo teri raah mein hai
ke tu kahin bhi rahe
tu meri nigaah mein hai
