Atul’s Song A Day- A choice collection of Hindi Film & Non-Film Songs

Aayi bahaaron ki shaam

Posted on: April 4, 2010

“Waapas”(1969) is a movie that had unknown actors in it and the movie sank without a trace. Those were the days when the Indian movie audience were too immature and simplistic in their choices and any movie even slightly off the mainstream track tended to flounder badly.

The songs of this movie were a different proposition altogether. To my mind, the songs of this movie were outstanding, but the failure of the movie at the box office meant that the songs were forgotten too.

Thankfully, some kind soul has now uploaded the songs of this movie, and what awesome songs there are in this movie ! I have already posted one song from this movie, and here is another outstanding song from this movie.

The song is sung by Rafi. It is picturised on Ajay and Alka. Majrooh Sultanpuri is the lyricist and Laxmikant Pyarelal composed the music.

PS-It has been pointed out that the song has another stanza (in the audio version). Now Sudhir jee has provided a link to the full audio version as well as the lyrics for the additional stanza.

Lyrics

ho ho ho
ho ho ho

Aayi bahaaron ki shaam
aayi bahaaron ki shaam
kyaa jaane phir kiske naam
aayi bahaaron ki shaam
kyaa jaane phir kiske naam
thandi hawaa bheegi fizaa
laayi hai phir kiskaa salaam
aayi bahaaron ki shaam
kyaa jaane phir kiske naam
aayi bahaaron ki shaam

sitaaron ne baandhaa gagan par
samaan jaise khilte gulon kaa
sitaaron ne baandhaa gagan par
samaan jaise khilte gulon kaa
sunsaan sapnon bhari waadiyon mein
chaandni se saje raaston kaa
ghata ne kiyaa intezaam
kyaa jaane phir kiske naam
aayi bahaaron ki shaam
ho ho ho ho
ho ho ho ho ho
ho ho ho ho ho

main gaataa hoon kis dilrubaa ki
mohabbat ke rangeen taraane
main gaataa hoon kis dilrubaa ki
mohabbat ke rangeen taraane
kaun aanewaala hai tanhaayion mein
chupke chupke ye dil mein na jaane
dhadakta hai kiska payaam
kyaa jaane phir kiske naam
aayi bahaaron ki shaam
kyaa jaane phir kiske naam
thandi hawaa bheegi fizaa
laayi hai phir kiskaa salaam
aayi bahaaron ki shaam
kyaa jaane phir kiske naam
aayi bahaaron ki shaam
hmm hmm hmm hmm hmm hmm
hmm hmm hmm hmm hmm hmm

aayee bahaaron ki shaam
kya jaane phir kis ke naam
aayee bahaaron ki shaam

kisi ne pukaara hai jaise
mujhi ko dehakte labon se ae ae
kisi ne pukaara hai jaise
mujhi ko dehakte labon se
lehra ke aanchal khushboo udaa ke
mehndi waali haseen ungliyon se
badhaaya tamanna ka jaam
kya jaane phir kis ke naam
aayee bahaaron ki shaam
oooo ooooo oo
oooo ooooo oo

Thanks Bimalji for finding the unfinished treasure, Sudhirji for the lyrics and Atulji for posting. This is one of my most fav song of Rafi saab. Rafi saab ka puraa gaana bhi adhura lagta hai (lagta hai ki jaise ye gaana kabhi khatam hi na ho) to adhuraa gaana to aise lagta hai jaise gaane ki abhi shuruaat hi huyi nahin hai.

Out of the two songs balance from this movie one is the children song ‘jhun jhunaa jhun jhunaa jhunjhunaa’, which is in my memory since i saw the film in late seventies …. nice song, and at that time given the story of the movie it was very touchy ..

Thanks for this wonderful song! I found another song with similar music. It is “Jane Kahan Gaye Tum’ from the film ‘Aaja Sanam -1975’
