It is not uncommon for me to enjoy songs whose details are not known to me and most other people. These well known songs are often from movies that few people know about.
Take this song “Ae jaane chaman tera gora badan” for example. Everyone must have heard this song. But any idea about the name of the movie that this song is from ?
I too was unaware about the details of this song. It is only recently that I have come to know that this song is from a movie called “Anmol Moti” (1969). And needless to say, the name of this movie did not ring a bell. Furthur investigation reveals that the movie had Jeetendra and Babita in lead roles. How time flies ! These days, we have their children (none of who were even born back then) who are into showbiz now a days.
This song is sung by Mahendra Kapoor. All these days I thought that Rafi was the singer of this song. Rajinder Krishan is the lyricist and music is by Ravi.
This song in fact supports my observation that a large number of great songs that we enjoy listening to (without being aware of its details) could well be creations of Ravi.

Anmol Moti was quite a popular movie at its time, touted as the first underwater film in India.

HI all
saw this song for the 1st tym today on TV. what a shocker … this beautiful song picturised so badly… on a very Raw Jeetu & cute babita….how i wish i ahd only heard it & not seen it…. for some reason all these years i thought it was either a Sunil Dutt or Rajendra Kumar song….. and mind it i was not so regular on this blog when atul had posted it here. probably thats why the experience today …. actually i had come to check if it was there on Atulsongaday.me saw has been here for around 3 years now

I remember seeing this movie as a young boy. I remember it quite well – it was about pearl-diving. I remember this song also very well. Most popular song of the movie.

So it is literally about “Anmol Moti” (priceless pearl) ? I thought it was about something more esoteric.
