Apne sainyya se nainaa ladaaibe

For many movie watchers, Meena Kumari and Raj Kumar epitomise tragedy roles. And if they are there together in a movie, then one may be justified in fearing the worst, viz ‘Kaajal” (1965). But fortunately, they did not start their careers with such roles, and they can be seen playing happier roles even together. “Ardhaangini” (1958) is one such movie where they were together playing happier roles.
Here is a song from this movie where Meena Kumari is seen singing and dancing with joy, expecting Raj Kumar to arrive back. She is joined by her young kid (played by Daisy Irani or Honey Irani, I guess) in prancing about. The song is written by Majrooh Sultanpuri and music is composed by Vasant Desai. I always feel happy when I see Neena Kumari in a happy role, and this song is no exception.

Lyrics
apne sainyya se naina ladaaibe
hamaar koi ka karihain
apne sainyya se naina ladaaibe
hamaar koi ka karihain
jhumka pahnoongi
darpan dekhoongi
jhumka pahnoongi
darpan dekhoongi
bindiya maathe ki chhan chhan dekhoongi
bindiya maathe ki chhan chhan dekhoongi
ankhiyan ki ankhiyan mein kajraa laibe
hamaar koi
hamaar koi ka karihain
apne sainyya se naina ladaaibe
hamaar koi ka karihain
nahin rukne ki main
duniya ke dar se
nahin rukne ki main
duniya ke dar se
koi boli bole
na chaloongi dar se
koi boli bole
na chaloongi dar se
sajna ke angna mein khadi muskaibe
hamaar koi
hamaar koi ka karihain
apne sainyya se naina ladaaibe
hamaar koi ka karihain
sab meri unki hi nazar dekhenge
sab meri unki hi nazar dekhenge
main udhar dekhoongi wo idhar dekhenge
main udhar dekhoongi wo idhar dekhenge
kabhi ghunghtaa kabhi anchraa
ham sarkaibe
hamaar koi
hamaar koi kaa karihain
apne sainyya se naina ladaaibe
hamaar koi ka karihain
apne sainyya se
apne rasiya se
apne balma se naina ladaaibe
hamaar koi

I have high regard for Vasant Desai.
Music for movies like Goonj Uthi Shehnai and Do Aankhen Barah Haath are evergreen.
This is also a nice song. I had never heard it before.

This is really a very beautiful song. Vasant Desai did some good music, but many of his albums are unknown.
In this song you can see here more than anywhere else, the way how Meena hides the stub of her little finger neatly behind the paloo!
