I have mentioned in the past that “Ratan” (1944), officially known as “Rattan” revolutioned the creation of music composition in Hindi movies. From classical music base, music began to draw inspiration from folk music and that enabled the “aam aadmi” to feel attached and attracted to the music.
Here is another wonderful song from “Ratan” (1944). It is sung by Amirbai Karnataki and Shyam Kumar. I find this song (like the other one posted yesterday), quite modern and far ahead of its time. The singers, especially Amirbai Karnataki sings in a style that is quite modern and in fact different from the style of Noorjehan and Sehgal who ruled the roost as far as Hindi movie singing was concerned.
The dancers on whom this song is picturised are not known to me. I request my knowledgeable readers to tell us about these artists on whom this song is picturised.
I must say that I loved listenening to (and watching) this song.

Even the choreography was quite ahead of the time.

Good to be reminded of this song. I remembered the kishore kumar reenacting the same dance movements in the film “Padosan”. Wonderful picturization of this song in “Ratan” clearly ahead of its time.

I had this record when i was five years old. I am very happy to listen this songs after 61 years. God bless you to have this kind of collection

The song is picturised on Auzurie and Krishna Kumar. KK and his younger brother, Surya Kumar were trained by Auzurie. Both of them became Choregraphers.

SD Burman, through Kishore Kumar, alludes to various prior song snippets in “chaltee kaa naam gaaDee”, in the song “paanch rupayyaa baaraa aanaa”. RDB does the same in Padosan, again via Kishore Kumar.
Kishore Kumar, in “teaching” Bhola (Sunil Dutt) a little bit of music, uses the refrain of this song.
