Atul’s Song A Day- A choice collection of Hindi Film & Non-Film Songs

Aaye baithe khaaye piye khiske

Posted on: August 21, 2010

“Ek Shrimaan Ek Shrimaan” (1969), which is not remembered much today is a tresure of fantastic songs. Surprisingly, I had not heard these songs when this movie and its songs were released in 1969.

I have already posted a few songs from this movie. Here is another song from this movie. Farmaish for this song was given by Raja more than one year back.

I have so far been unable to locate the video of this song. Considering the wonderful picturisations of other songs from this movie, I am sure this song too must have been picturised well. If any reader is awrae of a link for the picturisation of this song, I request him to give me the link and I will provide that link. In the meanwhile here is the audio of this song from “Ek Shrimaan Ek Shrimati” (1969). Rafi is the singer and I am sure this song is picturised on Shashi Kapoor. Rajinder Krishan is the lyricist and Kalyanji Anandji composed the music.

PS-Now I have the video link too, thanks to Suchi, who showed me the video link. The picturisation is fun, as I had expected. Babita looks so much like Karishma of 1990s and Shashi Kapoor in his all white dress reminds me of Jeetendra of 1980s. Yes, I know I am putting the cart before the horse, but why not !

And this song also shows some familiar landmarks of Delhi. It can be seen that there were so many empty places there adjacent to the roads there, which have become concrete jungle by now. Those were the days !

song-Aaye baithe khaaye piye khiske (Ek Shrimaan Ek Shrimati) (1969) Singer-Rafi, Lyrics-Rajinder Krishan, MD-Kalyanji Anandji

Ho aaye baithe khaaye piye khiske
ho aaye baithe khaaye piye khiske
ye achchi soorat waale yaar kis ke
haan kis ke
aaye baithe khaaye piye khiske
ho aaye baithe khaaye piye khiske
ye achchi soorat waale yaar kis ke
haan kis ke

jo dene waale ne de diya mukhdaa
jo ban gaya dil waalon ka dukhdaa
kyaa achchi soorat paayi
jaise loot li khudaayi
dil tode honge kis kis ke
haan haan haan kis ke
aaye baithe
aaye baithe khaaye piye khiske
ye achchi soorat waale yaar kis ke
haan kis ke

jawaani inki hai zamaana inkaa
nazar inki hai nishaana inkaa
kamar lachkaa ke
chali jo bal khaa ke
to rah jaaye dil pis pis ke
haan pis ke
aaye baithe
aaye baithe khaaye piye khiske
ye achchi soorat waale yaar kis ke
haan kis ke

inko to waastaa apni adaa se
ho kaun maraa kaun lutaa inki balaa se
sitam kiye jaayen
pataa bhi naa lagaayen ye
kaun roye kaun siske
haan siske
aaye baithe
aaye baithe khaaye piye khiske
aaye baithe khaaye piye khiske
ye achchi soorat waale yaar kis ke
haan kis ke

Oh, finally this song gets posted. Thanks, Atul. 🙂
This is certainly not a well-known song and there is nothing really special about it, IMO. But it has a special place for me in my heart because this is one of the songs I remember from my childhood. I even remember the scenes of the song but then did not know the movie. Only later on, I got to know which movie it was.

The song is indeed picturised on Shashi Kapoor and Babita. I could not locate the video of the song but I could find the scenes leading into the song. That itself has got quite some humour so you may like it (though I know you are not a Shashi fan and certainly do not approve of the Shashi-Babita combo 🙂 ).

hello…here is the picturisation of the song

Thanks a lot, Suchi. You made my morning !

thank you Atulji 🙂
