Look what song I have discovered today ! Here is a song from an old and obscure movie called “Bade Bhaiyya” (1951). It appears a B grade movie starring Suresh, Nirupa Roy, Agha and Yaaqoob.
Nirupa Roy plays the leading lady and naturally gets to lip sync in this movie. This is a surprise, but not such a big surprise because we have discussed others songs in this blog where Nirupa Roy had lip synced.
It is the musical team of this movie which is quite unknown. For instance, the song under discussion is sung by Sulochana Kadam. Manohar Lal Khanna is the lyricist. Music director is someone called Premnath. Now, I will not be like many sites which at the very mention of the word Premnath would jump to the conclusion that it is the actor Premnath. I am sure it cannot be the actor Premnath but some other person of the same name.
And this unknown team have come up with a nice song. I heard this song for the first time just a few hours ago, but I found this song an extemely hummable song. In fact, this song is a further vindication of my assertion that even B grade Hindi movies those days had A grade music.
Here is this superb song from “Bade Bhaiyya” (1951) which is picturised on Nirupa Roy. It is a rare song, but a gem that needs to be well known to music lovers.
