Today 11th october is the birthday of Amitabh Bachchan and on this occasion I am discussing a few songs picturised on him.
Here is a song from “Yaaraanaa” (1981). By that time, Amitabh Bachchan had reached the top and he had nowhere else to go but down. This movie came up when the golden era of Hindi movie music was coming to an end and Disco movie onslaught was on.
It was mandatory for all movies to have disco songs those days and this movie was no exception. But fortunately, Rajesh Roshan, the music director of this movie ennsured that the songs of this movie had proper lyrics written by a proper lyricist and sung by proper singers. This ensured that the songs of this movie have outlived the disco songs of that era.
Here is this song “chhoo kar mere man ko kiyaa toone kyaa ishaaraa”. This song certainly comes as a breath of fresh air in those days of disco cacophony. The song is sung by Kishore Kumar who shows his versatility in singing this song, which is a sentimental song.

interestingly enough, the melody of the mukhra of this song is copied from a tagore song: tomaar holo shuru, aamaar holo shaaraa.
