Dekha hai zindagi ko kuchh itna qareeb se

Posted on: December 8, 2010

Dharmendra and Sharmila Tagore, who share the same birthday (8th December) worked together opposite each other in several movies. One of these movies was “Ek Mahal Ho Sapnon Ka” (1975). This movie apparently did not do well at the box office. But what songs this movie had !

Here is a superb song from this movie. This song is picturised as a get together song, where Dharmendra sings this song where he accuses Sharmila Tagore of “bewafaayi”. The song is sung by Kishore Kumar. Sahir Ludhianvi, as is his wont, has come up with wonderful lyrics. Ravi is the music director.

Lyrics

dekhaa hai zindagi ko, kuchh itnaa kareeb se
dekhaa hai zindagi ko, kuchh itnaa kareeb se
chehre tamaam lagne lage hain ajeeb se
dekhaa hai zindagi ko, kuchh itnaa kareeb se
dekhaa hai zindagi ko, kuchh itnaa kareeb se

kahne ko dil ki baat jinhen dhoondhte thhe ham
kahne ko dil ki baat jinhen dhoondhte thhe ham
mehfil mein aa gaye hai.n vo apne naseeb se
dekhaa hai zindagi ko, kuchh itnaa kareeb se
dekhaa hai zindagi ko, kuchh itnaa kareeb se

neelaam ho rahaa thaa kisi naazneen kaa pyaar
neelaam ho rahaa thaa kisi naazneen kaa pyaar
qeemat nahin chukaayi gayi ek gareeb se
dekhaa hai zindagi ko, kuchh itnaa kareeb se
dekhaa hai zindagi ko, kuchh itnaa kareeb se

teri wafaa ki laash pe laa main hi daal doon
teri wafaa ki laash pe laa main hi daal doon
resham kaa ye kafan jo milaa hai raqeeb se
dekhaa hai zindagi ko, kuchh itnaa kareeb se
dekhaa hai zindagi ko, kuchh itnaa kareeb se

Wow! Wonderful that you’ve posted Dharam-Sharmila songs today on their birthday.
And such lovely songs too.

This song “dekha hai zindagi ko” is a wonderful song, especially because of the lyrics (Sahir after all!). And of course Kishoreda’s voice is great too.

Although I saw this movie years ago, I remember the story quite well.

Dharm ji is very good in these “mike” songs. And this is one of Kishore’s very good songs.

There is something in Sahir’s lyrics which stands him apart from the others. This uniqueness shows in abundane in this song. Kishore Kumar’s voice is superb.
