Today (20 march 2011) is Holi, one of the major festivals in India. This festival is also one of the most popular festival in Hindi movies as it offers great opportunity for movie makers to show the lead actors and others letting their hairs down and singing and dancing rather more uninhibitedly than usual.
This is the third Holi that this blog is celebrating. Over the last two Holi festivals, most Holi songs have been covered. I was wondering if any more Holi songs were still left to be covered.
Have no worry. We still have several Holi songs that are not yet covered.
Here is one of the most well known Holi songs from the past that somehow managed to remain undiscussed in the past. This song is from “Kohinoor”(1960). This Holi song is sung by Rafi and Lata. it is picturised on Dilip Kumar,Meena Kumari and many other actors.
Shakeel Badayuni is the lyricist. Naushad composed the music.

Happy Holi to everybody!
Atul, I am SO happy to see this song on your blog. This is indeed THE iconic song for Holi from my childhood days. In later years, other songs have come and maybe pushed this song out of Holi space but, for me, it will always be a very special song.
Btw, what an irony that a song that talks about colours, colours and colours is in black & white.
