“Saraswati Chandra” (1968) is a movie which was a musical blockbuster, though the movie itself did not do all that well. I have discussed as many as five songs from this movie, and each one of them is a timeless classic.
Here is another song from this movie. I was not aware of this song till Sudhir sent me the lyrics of this song.
This is a mujra song, and interestingly enough, this song is sung by Mubarak Begam. This song is picturised on Madhumati. The picturisation also shows Ramesh Deo enjoying himself at the mujra, while Nutan, playing his wife is waiting for him to come back home.
This is a mujra song by Mubarak Begum, from the movie Saraswati chandra (1968). The lyrics are by Indeevar and music is composed by Kalyanji Anandji. On screen, the song is performed by supporting actress Madhumati. Also visible in the clip are Ramesh Deo and Nutan. In the movie, Nutan is married to Ramesh Deo, and she is at home waiting for her husband to return for the day, and have the evening meal. But the husband is interested in drinking and dance girls. He is enjoying the mujra while the wife is waiting at home.
This is a special song for this blog because it is the 200th song of Kalyanji Anandji that is posted in this blog. This includes the few songs where Kalyanji composed movie solo under the name of Kalyanji, before he was joined by his younger brother Anandji to form this legendary duo. With this song, Kalyanji Anandji become the fourth music director (after Shankar-KJaikishan,Kalyanji Anandji and S D Burman) to have over two hundred songs in this blog.
