In this blog, I often get farmaishes (requests) for songs to be discussed. Most of the songs are relatively well known songs and/or songs that are easy to find. The challenge in their case is to try and accomodate them in the blog within the limitation that one can only discuss a few songs in a day.
There are some cases when I get request for songs that are rare and not easily available. There have been cases when the farmaish sender mentioned that he/she was searching for the song for several decades !
Such songs naturally arouse my curiosity and I try to find these songs. and it gives me great creative satisfaction when I am able to locate these songs and discuss them in this blog. The happiness that it brings to the readers in general and the farmaish sender in particular is to be seen (read) to be believed.
One of our newer visitors Mr Mrs. roos ramdin has been looking for a song for more than 40 years. and he she gave the request for this song to me yesterday.
He She wrote :
…But Iam seaking for more than 40 years to a song, sung by Hemant Kumar from the movie BHAGWAT MAHIMA. The title is JAI JANANI JAI BHARATI, JAI JAI etc….Please, will you do me a great favor and try to find this song? Thank you very much..
I thought that this song should not be that difficult to find on YT, but it was. one can find a few other songs of this movie there but not this one.
Then I searched for this song in my collection, and there it was !
So here is this song, on the farmaish of Mrs. roos ramdin. The song is sung by Hemant Kumar. Saraswati Kumar Deepak is the lyricist. Music is composed by Hemant Kumar himself.

This song does not seem to be available anywhere. I have many rare songs with me but not this one. The only way I can get this song is if someone sends me this song or the link to this song.

Atul,
“guru kul”, is the one word guru-kul, which was the ancient tradition of a sishya living with the the guru, and learning.
The second one sounds like “ambar daata, kaalee dhartee”; one has to figure out the poet’s intention here. baarambaar pukartee – does that mean call repeatedly? I am afraid my Hindi vocabulary doesn’t etend that far.
The refrain reminds me of a very popular telugu song (the phrases are 100% Sanskrit) penned by Devulapalli Krishna Sastry – which goes like

These are a few snippets that i recollect, but am looking forward to knowing the whole poem again. I wish to then teach it to my hindi students for special presentation.

This song was “new” for me too. And I too enjoyed listening to this song.
