“Rustam e Hind” (1965) is a B grade movie produced by K R films and directed by Kedar Kapoor. This movie had top B grade stars of the day, viz Dara Singh and Mumtaz, as well as others like Helen, Laxmi chhaya, Sham kumar, K.N.Singh, Parveen Paul, Rajan Haksar, Mridula Rani, Randhir, Maruti Rao, TunTun, Mohan Choti, Bihari, Hansa, Haroon, Khurshid, Madhumati, Roopesh Kumar, Parashuram etc.
It is rare to see Dara Singh lip syncing songs on Hindi movies, as he, like Sheikh Mukhtaar, often takes care of strong arm tactics and leaves romantic songs for the side hero of the movie. But in this movie, Dara Singh takes up the added responsibility of singing songs as well.
Here is a song from this movie in which Dara Singh is seen wooing Mumtaz, with Mumtaz playing hard to get, as is the wont of leading ladies in hindi movie songs, before duly melting towards the end of the song. The picturisation also shows Roopesh Kumar, Rajan Haksar and a lady which Prakashchandra ( who sent the lyrics of this song to me) guesses to be Sheela R. Knowledgeable readers are requested to confirm/refute the identity of this lady.
The song is sung by Rafi. Qamar Jalalabadi is the lyricist. Music is composed by Hansraj Bahl.
