“Pyaar Ki Baaten” (1951) is a Nargis Arts movie, which was Nargis’ home production. The movie was directed by directed by Akhtar Hussain. this movie had Nargis and trilok Kapoor in lead roles, with Nazir, Rashid, Neelam Kothari, Maruti, Nissar, Khurshid, H. Prakash, Cuckoo etc also figuring in the cast.
Here is what Mr Arunkumar Deshmukh, our resident expert on old and obscure movies has to say about this movie:-
PYAR KI BATEN(1951),was a very interesting film.
It was produced and directed by Akhtar Hussain and it had 2 Music directors,2 cinematographers,2 Choreographers,5 Lyricists,3 Story writers,3 Dialogue writers and 3 Screenplay writers.
There were 2 Music Directors. Bulo c Rani gave music to 4 songs and Khayyam(in the name of Sharmaji) 5 songs.
Asha Bhosle first sang for Khayyam in this film(Hamein chhod ke na jaana).
The story was also interesting. Prince Badar(Trilok Kapoor) of Halab Kingdom was a vagabond. To improve him, marriage was proposed with Nadira(Nargis),princess of Nakhlistan. She refuses him and sends a doll to him. Enraged,Badar wants to take revenge and sets out as a poor peasant.
Gulnar, step mother of Nadira wants to marry her to her idiot cousin. To get away from this, Nadira runs away with the help of Saki(Pran),the army chief. They stay in an Inn, where Saki proposes marriage to her. By chance,Prince Badar is serving in that Inn. He saves Nadira and brings her to her palace, from where Saki kidnaps her.The story tells us how Badar rescues her and how they fall for each other, etc.
As mentioned above the songs of this movie were distributed between Bulo C Rani and Khayyam, and sometimes it is not clear who composed which songs.
Here is an interesting duet from this movie. It is sung by G M Durrani and Asha Bhonsle. The song is picturised on actors playing banjaras who are not familiar to me. I request our knowledgeable readers to help identify them.
The song is written by Khawan Zamaan and music is composed by Bulo C Rani, but it could be Khayyam as well. I request our knowledgeable readers to tell us who is the music director of this topic.
One can notice that Asha Bhonsle, then searching for an identity of he own was consciously apeing Geeta Roy’s (later Dutt) singing style in this song.
PS-As informed by Mr Arunkumar Deshmukh, Khayyam is the music director for this song.

Lyrics
ho o o
o o o
unko rupaiyye mein solah aane hamse nafrat hai
hamko rupaiyye mein do rupaiyye unse muhabbat hai
lekin phir bhi
wo hamse muhabbat karte hain
kabhi ek aana kabhi do aane jee
kabhi ek aana kabhi do aane
wo hamse muhabbat karte hain
kabhi ek aana kabhi do aane jee
kabhi ek aana kabhi do aane
ho o o
o o o
aa meri pyaar ki basti mein musaafir ban kar
tere nakhron ko uthhaaon main sach ban kar
yoon na kar meri tamannaon ki aisi taisi
aisi taisi
aisi taisi
aisi taisi
ho
haan
aisi taisi
yoon na kar meri tamannaon ki aisi taisi
kaat daaloongi
kaat daaloongi teri naak main khanjar bankar
kaat daaloongi
kaat daaloongi teri naak main khanjar bankar
hamne to jaan o jigar tere liye haar diyaa
hamne to jaan o jigar tere liye haar diyaa
toone do aankhon ki bandook se kyun maar diya
toone do aankhon ki bandook se kyun maar diya
lekin phir bhi
wo hamse muhabbat karte hain
kabhi ek aana kabhi do aane jee
kabhi ek aana kabhi do aane
wo hamse muhabbat karte hain
kabhi ek aana kabhi do aane jee
kabhi ek aana kabhi do aane
ek tum ho
har ghadi bejaar karte ho hamen
bejaar karte ho hamen
ek ham hain
ek ham hain
solah aane pyaar karte hain tumhe
hain pyaar karte hain tumhe
lekin phir bhi
tum hamse muhabbat karte ho
kabhi ek aana kabhi do aane jee
kabhi ek aana kabhi do aane
tum hamse muhabbat karte ho
kabhi ek aana kabhi do aane jee
kabhi ek aana kabhi do aane
