Film “Dharam”(1945) was produced by Rattan Bai for Star Productions. Little information is available about this obscure movie. Various internet sources (all copying from the same source material) mention that this movie had seven songs in it. While the titles of songs are known and names of singers are also mentioned, lyricists of these songs are not known. The music was composed by Sajjad Hussain.
All these days the songs of this movie were not available. Now Khwaja Sultan Ahmad, the younger brother of the legendary music director of 1940s, namely Khwaja Khurshid Anwar, and a visitor of this blog, has kindly uploaded a song from this movie. Not only that, he also provided us with the information that the name of the singer mentioned in the record is not correct. The name of the singer mentioned in the gramophone record is Alaknanda, whereas the song is actually sung by Hamida Banu. It is a very valuable information indeed, because every internet source, without cross checking the fact had dutifully reported what was reported by everyone else. Hopefully the information as well as the song that Mr Khwaja Sultan Ahmad had made available will help set the records straight, as far as this song is concerned.

Since the video was blank with only audio of the song, I have made a new video with some sound enhancement and using a couple of scenes from the film which were available on ‘Filmindia’ magazine.
