Khushi dil ki barbaadiyaan saath laayi

All the Sajjad Hussain songs discussed in this blog are from movies that were released. But Sajjad Hussain also composed a few songs for movies that were shelved.
“Shiqwa” was one such movie. Sajjad Hussain was signed up as the music director of this movie. He recorded one song for this movie and then he walked off due to differences with Dilip Kumar, the lead actor of the movie. Anil Biswas replaced Sajjad Hussain, but the movie was shelved soon thereafter and no other songs were created for this movie. The record of this one song were not made.
Here is this extremely rare song from this shelved movie. This song is sung by Talat Mehmood. Lyricist of this song is not known. This song is taken from the soundtrack. Mr Khwaja Sultan Ahmad, a regular of this blog and possessor of invaluable rare musical gems has kindly uploaded this song for the listening pleasure of music lovers.
Here is this rarest of rare Sajjad Hussain composition. Enjoy !
Song-Khushi dil ki barbaadiyaan saath laayin (Shiqwa)(1950 ) Singer-Talat Mehmood, MD-Sajjad Hussain
Lyrics
Khushi dil ki barbaadiyaan saath laayi
khushi dil ki barbaadiyaan saath laayi
muhabbat ki duniya basaa kar mitaayi
muhabbat ki duniya basaa kar mitaayi
khushi dil ki barbaadiyaan saath laayi
kahaan se kahaan aa gaye
chalte chalte
kahaan se kahaan aa gaye
chalte chalte
magar iss muhabbat ki manzil na aayi
muhabbat ki duniya basaa kar mitaayi
khushi dil ki barbaadiyaan saath laayi
abhi muskuraane na paaye thhe ham tum
abhi muskuraane na paaye thhe ham tum
na paaye thhe ham tum
muqaddar ne ik aur thhokar lagaayi
mohabbat ki duniyaa basaa kar mitaayi
khushi dil ki barbaadiyaan saath laayi

A music maestro and a thespian, the both men are the perfectionists. Often perfectionist people demand perfection in others, who fail to live up to the ideal thus cause the rifts in relationships.
Sajjad’s music is DIVINE no dout about it.
Two of his films were incomplete SHIQWA and PREET NA JANE REET.
Now to name a few of the films of Dilip Kumar’s that remained incomplete..
K. Asif’s TAJ MAHAL, JANWAR and AAKHRI MUGHAL
Nasir Hussain’s KALA AADMI…
Also Dilip Kumar refused to play the role in PYASA, ANARI, SANGAM.

If the record of this song was not made, as per your write up, how come the recording is now available? I am just curious.

Atul ji,
What to say for this post? As you say, a rarest of rare songs. . . truly a precious and lost gem, very very valuable gem. Such great feeling to be able to hear this song, about which one has only read about so far.
Khwaja Sultan Ahmed ji,
No thanks are enough to you, for sharing this wonderful and poignant melody. I am so glad.
A real wonderful gem of a song.
