“Khul Ja Sim Sim” (1956) is a B grade movie which was a Golden Films presentation. Produced by Mulkraj Bhakri,it was directed by Nanubhai Vakil and the star cast included names like Mahipal, Shakila, Maruti, Heeralal, Helen, Niranjan Sharma, Krishna Kumari, Naazi, Sadiq, Vijaya Kumari etc.
This movie was subsequently followed by its sequel called “Sim Sim Marjeena” (1958) produced by the same production house and repeating almost the same team of actors.
Here is what Mr Arunkumar Deshmukh had to say about the story of “Khul Ja Sim Sim” (1956) :-
We all know the story of Alibaba and the 40 Thieves.
The story of KHUL JAA SIM SIM (1956) starts from when the thieves and their Sardar Behramkhan(Heeralal) is killed.Alibaba(Mahipal chand Bhandari) throws the dead body of the Sardar,in front of two jobless youths.The sardar,who is seriously wounded and not dead,manages to reach the Jungle.Just before dying,he meets an old saint(Niranjan Sharma) with whom he leaves a message for Alibaba that he should give up the wealth earned by thieves as it is bad.The saint conveys this to Alibaba,who ignores it as he is busy in enjoying life with Margina(Shakila),who loves him.She too advises Alibaba,but he does not listen.
Once Alibaba saves the life of princess Zar Nigar(Naazi) from evil Vazir.She starts loving him.He too falls for her.Alibaba throws Margina out,she goes to Jungle and meets the Saint.
Alibaba’s face is burnt in an accident and the Princess leaves him.Margina returns to tend him. He repents and distirbutes his wealth to poor people.
Here is an obscure but lovely song from this movie. It is sung by Geeta Dutt. Asad Bhopali is the lyricist. Music is composed by Hansraj Bahl.
Only the audio of this song is available and so it is difficult to guess how and on whom this sopng is picturised. My guess is that this sopng is picturised as a medieval style bar dance song where Marjeena entertains the forty thieves through this song and dance. I request our knowledgeable readers to help conform/ refute my guess.
