While looking for Jaidev compositions to be posted today (6th january) on his death anniversary, I came across gems after gems that I heard in my formative days without having any inkling that they were composed by Jaidev. These are songs that tempted me to hold on to them for some other special occasions. But if I hold on to all his compositions for some future occasion then I will have to stop discussing Jaidev compositions, such is the quality of all the songs that I am coming across.
And just now I came across a Jaidev composition that I had never heard before. It is a standard fate of Jaidev compositions that they are created in movies that end up as obscure movies.
This song is from “Jiyo aur Jeene Do” (1969) which was an Apsara Arts production and it was directed by B Mastan. The “star” cast of this movie was Sailesh Kumar, Tanuja, Jeevan, Mohan Choti, Uma Dutt, Meenaxi, Sujata, Helen, Chand Usmani, Kundan etc.
Here is this gem of a composition from this movie. The song is sung by Rafi. The song with incredibly sensuous lyrics are penned by Hasrat Jaipuri. It is yet another fantastic composition from Jaidev, who unfortunately saw most of his compositions ending up as unsung.
