“Ek Din Ka Sultan” (1945) is by now an obscure movie. This movie had Ghulam Mohammad, Mehtab, Wasti, Sadiq Ali etc in lead roles.
Here is a lovely song from this movie which is sung by Amirbai Karnataki, my favourite singer from that era. This broken heart song is picturised on Mehtab. Wali Sahab is the lyricist.
This movie had three independent music directors, namely Rafiq Ghaznavi, Shanti Kumar and D Gadkar. This particular song is composed by D Gadkar, and this song is his first composition in this blog.
I have not been able to get the entire lyrics correctly to my satisfaction. Knowledgeable readers are requested to point our the errors in the lyrics.

EK DIN KA SULTAN – 1945 had 3 composers.Rafiq Gaznavi,Shanti Kumar and Deepak Gadkar-who was actually an assistant to Shanti Kumar.Deepak Gadkar has also given independent music to 2 other films,Inteqam-47 and Vikram Shashikala-49.
Rafiq Gaznavi was an extremely busy composer in that period,mainly because he was so slow that he used to take a long time to complete the songs.Though his music was excellent,many times producers used employ additional MDs to complete the film faster.Thus, one will find that the no. of films done independently by RG are almost the same as music given along with other MDs.
Shanti Kumar was an independent composer in that era and has given music to about 18 films from 1938 to 1944.
He also tried his hand at Direction of a film,e.g. ANJAAM-1952,where the MD was Madan Mohan.

Rafiq (Sahib) Gaznavi was the grand father of Salma Agha (Dil ke Armaan – Nikaah).
